1940s - 1950s Hadacol Dietary Supplement Apothecary Bottle
Glassware
This Hadacol bottle was uncovered at Glenwood Cemetery, dating back to the 1940s or 1950s. This eight-fluid-ounce container once held Hadacol, a popular vitamin supplement during the mid-20th century. The remaining label features text and imagery identifying it as a "dietary supplement," though it shows signs of wear and age. Hadacol is particularly known for its alcohol content and was widely distributed across the South, reflecting the consumer culture of that time. This bottle, discovered during landscape maintenance, offers a glimpse into the evolving perspectives on health, commerce, and consumption in 20th-century Houston.
The item serves as a reference to evolving perspectives on health, commerce, and consumption in 20th-century Houston.
