Mission Statement
Reflective of Glenwood Cemetery’s long history of serving the public are voluminous archival records and original source holdings that document its residents and operations for over 150 years. These records contain the day-to-day business of the Cemetery and serve to memorialize the people interred there, revealing a vast store of genealogical and historical information.
Our mission for the Glenwood Cemetery Archive is to acquire, preserve, and maintain these unique and original records. These documents are primary sources of information and cannot be found in any other repository around the world.

Collection 03: Restoration Projects
This collection provides a comprehensive documentation of the restoration initiatives undertaken at Glenwood Cemetery from 1982 to 2025. It encompasses a diverse array of materials, including project records, planning documents, contractual agreements, and visual documentation, all of which collectively contribute to the understanding of the cemetery's preservation efforts.
2005 Estrada Monument Restoration Work
The item contains correspondence between Martha Peterson and Richard A. Ambrus about the restoration work completed by the Estradas. The correspondence discusses using a chain hoist to handle heavier pieces and move heavy monuments that need resetting; however, it notes that working under the stone is too dangerous. There is a handwritten note on the correspondence stating: "Keep them busy without hoist per Raa 10-12-05" The item contains a project overview for each restoration project, noting priority status, Section, Lot Owner information, Work Performed, Work to be Completed, a map of the section, and before-and-after photos of the restoration work.
2005 Lot Improvements, Repairs, and Infrastructure Projects
The item contains the lot improvements, repairs, and infrastructure projects completed in 2005. Included in the folder are worksheets for each project, which include information on the employees involved, hours worked, lot details, tasks completed, vendor information, purchase order number, materials used, equipment used throughout the project, and total cost. The projects include: Repair of Curbing (West Avenue), Two Identified Markers, Giraud (D:129, D:170), Repair of Water Leak (D), Britt Davis (F:140:A), Polemanakos (WA:376), Currie Lot Improvements (G:46:W 1/2), Wier (L), Liedtke Bench (L), White Lot Repair (EA:18:B), Hobson Marker Resetting (WC:F:6:SE 1/4), Menking (L:69:E 1/2), Leveling four bnches, Resetting bench, wall repair (L), and Oakdale Drainage Project (OD).
2005 Monument Restoration Estrada Payroll
The item includes the Estrada Payroll report for the restoration work completed in 2025. The report details the period ending, contractor, hours worked, net pay, gross pay, costs, amounts paid, check number, and totals.
2005 Monument Restoration Projects Report
The item contains a list of fifty-right historic monument restorations completed at Glenwood Cemetery. The item includes worksheets for each project that include information on the employees involved, hours worked, lot details, tasks completed, vendor information, purchase order number, materials and equipment used throughout the project, and total cost. The quote includes information on restoring and cleaning twenty-seven plots, twenty-two copings, one hunderd and twenty six stones, fourty stones, and twently seven cradles covering sections C, D, M, A, G, and F. The drafts include handwritten notes of edits.
2011 Washington Cemetery Monument Restoration Signed Quote from Glenwood Cemetery
The item contains the monument restoration quote given to Washington Cemetery from Loy Anderson of Glenwood Cemetery. The quote includes information on restoring and cleaning twenty-seven plots, twenty-two copings, one hundred and twenty-six stones, forty stones, and twenty-seven cradles covering sections C, D, M, A, G, and F. Blake Meaux, of Restoration Roof Clean, and Richard Ambrus sign the quote. Additionally, a map of the areas undergoing monument restoration is included.

The Archival collection is available for study and research; however, to preserve original documents and photographs and to maintain the integrity of the collection, none of the materials are allowed to leave the archives or to be reproduced without authorization.
